About the letter H — sound, shape, and words
Letter H makes the /h/ sound — a voiceless glottal fricative. Air flows from the throat with no obstruction, as in hat, house, and hill. H is a whisper sound — no vibration in the throat. Children can feel warm breath on their hand when they say /h/ correctly.
How to form the letter H
Uppercase H: draw two parallel vertical lines from top to bottom, then connect them with a horizontal crossbar in the middle. Lowercase h: draw a tall vertical line from top to bottom, then from the middle of that line curve up and over to the right, bringing a second vertical line down to the baseline.
Words that start with H
Use these words while tracing to connect the letter shape to a sound: Hat, House, Hill, Hand, Horse, Honey, Heart, Hammer. Say H — Hat while tracing. The /h/ sound is just a breath — children can blow warm air on their hand to feel it.

Many parents skip straight to the free-write section. This feels faster but skips the motor-learning phase — children end up with shaky, inconsistent letterforms. Let the tracing rows do their job first. The free-write section is the reward, not the shortcut.
